Earnest Distractions

“Evil is whatever distracts” –Franz Kafka

I do quite a bit of writing for zines, newspapers, journals, websites and more. Earnest Distractions reflects my misguided attempt to catalog it all. Don’t be bitten.

Recent essay for So Say We All’s Incoming and flash fiction series in Nothing to Declare.

New short excerpt from my cat sitting collection in Green Mountains Review.

Currently working on essays about the Navy, horror movies and deaths in the family.

My gambling and casino culture column, The Nervous Light, at Eephus: a magazine of literary sports writing published in collaboration with the Los Angeles Review of Books. Last summer I wrote a dispatch from the streets of Lisbon about Portugal’s epic win.

I’ve been a columnist for Razorcake, America’s only non-profit independent music zine, for the last 15 years. My print-only column appears bi-monthly. Do your part and subscribe.
